Nielsen meets Dzemka on August 25 in Struer: “I’m expecting a brawl!”

Mikkel Nielsen (5-0, 3 KOs) will face Aliaksandr Dzemka (5-5, 1 KO) in a six-round super welterweight contest on the undercard of Dina Thorslund’s WBO Female World Super Bantamweight title fight with Yessica Munoz on August 25.

Nielsen returns to familiar territory following an away trip to Sweden that saw him claim a career-best win over Scandinavian rival Simon Henriksson who he stopped inside five rounds at the Gardehov in Sundsvall on April 21.

Having previously recorded victories over Leri Tedeev and Jemal Shalamberidze at the Struer Energi Park, the 28 year-old from Odense says he is looking forward to returning to the ‘City of Sound’ for his sixth professional bout.

“I went to Sweden to get the win in a tough match up and I succeeded with flying colours,” says Nielsen. “It was pretty fly for a white guy. Besides that I think I was the best dressed. We went there to fight hard and play hard.

“I’m looking forward to fighting again in Struer. I’m on a first name basis with a lot of Struer folk and a lot more faces are getting familiar to me. It’s no secret that I’ve downed a few beers after my previous fights there and I have a bet or two to settle from my last visit.”

Undefeated in his last five fights, Nielsen will look to maintain his unbeaten record against the 27 year-old Belarusian Dzemka with the help of a ‘Rocky inspired’ training camp.

“Aliaksndr is an aggressive fighter with a lot of heart so I expect the fight to be physical and probably go the distance. I’m expecting a brawl,” he says.

“So far, I’ve been working on my basic form in the gym, and have been to Iceland for some alternative training such as hiking, climbing and running in the mountains – kind of a Rocky inspired training – without hitting any dead cows!”

If successful, Nielsen, an entertaining character inside and out of the ring, has already planned his celebration: “After the fight, if I win, I think I’ll do a little dance, make a little love, get down tonight!”

Nielsen joins Danish fighters Kem Ljungquist, Adam Bashanov and Frederik Hede Jensen on the undercard of Dina Thorslund's WBO Female World Super Bantamweight Championship clash with Mexico's Yessica Munoz on August 25 in. Struer.
