New date set for Yigit’s European title challenge

Anthony Yigit (18-0-1, 7 KOs) has a new date set for his vacant European Super Lightweight Championship clash with Lenny Daws (30-4-2, 11 KOs). The fight will now take place on February 11 at the Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton, London.

Yigit was originally scheduled to meet the former British Champion on December 17, but with just a week to go before the fight, Daws was ruled out with a back injury.

‘’I’m very happy to have a new date set for this fight,’’ said Yigit. ‘’I can’t wait to get in the ring and showcase my skills. It will be a good start to the year with me winning the European title.

‘’The postponement hasn’t affected me that much. It was unfortunate that the fans have had to wait, but with a new date set, I’m sure everything will go to plan.

‘’I have been training hard, like I always do, and I’m very confident. I’ve kept in fighting shape and kept busy in the gym. All I need is to get that final explosiveness now and the fight game is on, and I'm ready to go!''

Yigit can become the first Swedish fighter to claim the European crown since Anders Eklund in 1987 if he is able to overcome Daws on February 11.
