Kassem to kick-start pro career with six-rounder in debut

Danish amateur star Rashid Kassem has confirmed his ambition to take the world of professional boxing by storm by asking promoter Nisse Sauerland to give him a six- instead of a four-rounder in his debut.

The 21-year-old Dane, an accomplished amateur, will take on Andrei Sudas (5-4-1, 5 KOs) at the Nordic Fight Night in Frederikshavn on Saturday night. “It´s highly unusual to open your pro career with six rounds,” Sauerland said. “But Rashid wants to waste no time. He is very ambitious and can´t wait to leave his mark in pro boxing.”

Sauerland said he had initial concerns about the special start but eventually gave in. “The transition from amateur to pro is very difficult and adding six more minutes could make a big difference,” he stated. “It´s a risk he takes but if he feels confident he can do it, I´m not going to stop him.”
