Judgement Day(s) for Patrick Nielsen

To judge and not be judged: Patrick Nielsen (18-0, 8 KOs) will find himself in a new role on Sunday. For once, the WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Champion does not need to impress the judges – he will be one of them!

Nielsen is part of the expert jury that has been appointed to find the next Danish boxing sensation.

Almost 100 people have already registered for Team Sauerland´s public auditions (“Fight for your Right”), which will take place on Sunday (June 9) at 11 am at Butcher´s Garage. The event will feature several elimination rounds, including strength, fitness and boxing ability tests. “I think it´s a great idea to do something like this,” Nielsen said. “It´s a great project to find new talents and I am thrilled to be part of the jury. I get judged all the time, so I am happy that I can finally judge someone else.”

Nielsen has given the candidates a hint what he will be looking for. “The same three things my coach Joey Gamache is looking for – desire, determination and drive,” he revealed. “At the same time I will also be looking for something special, something unique that no other fighter has. I am very curious.”

Six days later, it´s Nielsen who will be trying to impress the judges when he takes on Crispulo Javier Andino at the Nordic Fight Night in Aarhus. “He is a southpaw like me,” the Danish youngster said of his Argentinian opponent. “I know that he wants my title, but he will not get it. The training has been going great and I´m ready to put on an exciting fight at NRGi Arena.”
